The Shimm Presents: The Aughts in Review

Former Crowded House frontman Neil Finn made two really nice pop-rock albums in the late 90's-to-early-aughts. He's sort of the Kiwi equivalent of John Mellencamp. It might be dad-rock, but i dig it.

I'm not sure I follow the comparison. He's more like the Kiwi equivalent of Paul Westerberg.

not sure it was a good comparison either. Kiwi Springsteen?

here was my thinking: Finn lives in an isolated area of the world (a la Bloomington, IN) and continues to make albums that appeal to his niche audience and don't seem to get to much attention from the music press. obviously, Mellencamp's done Superbowl half time shows and NF probably hasn't played at any Australian rules football championships...whatever...i just try to write something down as quickly as possible w/out embarrassing myself. thanks for checking in Super Sick Naptown Lawyer guy named Son.
